Can a Student Loan debt collection agency garnish a bank account in the state of NC? How about SS benefits?

   once a judgment is rendered they can garnish all wages except social security under $750 per month. but pensions and wage earned jobs are all fair game. If you have none of these and just SSI then they will attach a lien to your home to get their money as the fed wins this battle

   Social Security benefits can be garnished to repay Federal debts, but never below $750 per month. A garnishment can take 15%, or the amount over $750, whichever is less.
